Not much of a January feel this week

The 614cast

Monday’s tl;dr

🌤️ Mostly sunny, high in the middle 40s.

Forecast highlights

🌡️ Mild for most of the week

Monday ought to look a lot like Sunday, as high, thin clouds pass over. But it’ll be about 10 degrees warmer and likely the coolest day of the workweek.

Last week, I didn’t think 50s were in the cards, but Ma Nature had other plans. 50s are a solid bet on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and we could get there on Wednesday, too.

Even the morning lows will be quite mild. On the graph above, I’ve noted the normal high and low with dotted lines. A few days will start with temperatures near or above our normal highs.

A late-week weather system should drag a cold front through on Saturday, bringing cooler temperatures back in.

🌧️ Highest rain chance holds off

A weak disturbance slips by on Tuesday, and light rain showers are possible with it. However, those look spotty and might not even materialize here. Odds are a bit better to our east.

So let’s jump ahead to later this week. This is the main American model’s prediction, going from Thursday morning to Saturday morning. A more energetic system than on the one on Tuesday pulls up.

(Pivotal Weather)

There are still questions on just how it’ll evolve, though. Friday looks like the most likely day for rain, but we could have some as early as Thursday afternoon or evening. Dry air should wrap in pretty quickly on Saturday, so if there’s rain (or snow) that day, it currently doesn’t look like it’ll be an all-day affair.

This one ought to have a decent amount of moisture. The odds of getting at least a half-inch of rain, per the National Blend of Models, is pretty high.

I expect clearer details of timing and amounts with my Wednesday update.
