I started my career at WREX-TV in Rockford, Illinois in Feburary 2008; on my second day, parts of the viewing area got more than a foot of snow. I really got thrown into the fire!

In October 2009, I moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, joining KCRG-TV9 as the weekend morning meteorologist. I earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society in 2010 and became the midday meteorologist at KCRG in 2014. In July 2020, I took on a new digital weather role with Spectrum Networks.

In 2015, I got to spend a week in Norman, Oklahoma as one of three TV meteorologists from across the country to work alongside National Weather Service meteorologists to evaluate test products from the now-launched GOES-East weather satellite.

One of my professional interests is the bridge between weather and people, and was invited to attend a week-long workshop in Boulder, Colorado in 2011 that brought together meteorologists, geographers, and social scientists from various fields. That experience gave me a new perspective on how people understand and use weather information. It’s a fascinating thing – and it’s apparent that people can be harder to understand and predict than weather.

I was born and raised in Galena, Illinois and attended Iowa State University, where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology in December 2007.

My wife, daughter and I live in the Columbus, Ohio metro with Watson, our Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
