Back to spring-feeling weather

This newsletter is a short one! We were doing some family time playing Monopoly this evening. Tip: Play by the actual rules. They make the game not drag on forever.

Forecast highlights

⬆️ Out of the chill

The wintry feel is behind us. Temperatures will be much improved over the coming days.

Yes, there’s a downturn early next week, but we’ll climb right back up after that.

😴 No big systems

We have a few rain chances coming up, but hardly anything that’s especially noteworthy.

Here’s the European forecast model through next Wednesday.

(PolarWx)

We may see some light rain on Thursday and Friday, but no washouts. The cold front late Sunday may also produce some rain. There’s a low chance that thunder could accompany the activity Friday and Sunday, too, but there’s no concern about anything strong.

📊 Thursday’s almanac

Normal low/high: 33 / 52
Record low/high: 8 (1885) / 78 (2012)
Sunrise/set: 7:36 a.m. / 7:43 p.m.

🌸 Spring warming

Climate Central’s analysis of spring temperatures shows that the season is warming across much of the country.

That includes here in central Ohio. The number of days with highs warmer than average has been trending upward, with 16 more of them since 1970. The average spring temperature is up almost four degrees over that same period. Much of this change can be attributed to human-caused climate change.

The vast majority of U.S. cities have at least a week more of warmer-than-average temperatures now compared to the 1970s. While I think many of us enjoy getting out of winter into more pleasant weather, it’s been a fast change. And earlier warm weather has negative effects, even here — like longer allergy seasons.
